Sample plans

Pick one bath, one walk and one meal

  1. About 2 hours: one public bath or the footbath, then the old town.
  2. Half a day: a public bath, lunch and shopping, then the springs and bridges.
  3. Half a day indoors: Taiko no Yu as your base — good in rain.
  4. Full day: a booked ryokan day plan plus a town walk.

Don’t rush between several baths: the slopes and crowds slow you down. Drink water and rest between soaks.
